by some of the stuff i’ve been reading on Facebook today!
If you dislike somebody then that’s fair enough, But not actually knowing this person and posting offensive things about them in a public forum in an attempt to humiliate them and have a little laugh with your ‘Mates’ is pathetic. I might not care for said person much and have at times seen the funny side to things but to register a tumblr account and post belittling things about the ‘Promoting’ skills that somebody has while spreading the link to your ‘mates’ amounts to nothing but bullying.
Here are a few pointers for you:
Firstly, Take a look at yourself, You’ve put on a handful of ‘local’ DIY shows in your life 99% of which have flopped and have resulted in you not being able to do shows at certain venues in our City because they got tired of 20 people showing up.
Secondly, You’re a hanger on and pretty much everybody knows that! Taking credit for the work of others!
I spent my early years in this scene doing everything i could to get involved in it and all of it was off my own back. I’ve done more shows than i can even remember but i’d estimate in the region of 700+ shows since my first one in 2005, In fact over 200 last year alone. Following on from that i’ve garnered myself through the industry to a level where i have several jobs and business interests that i am more than happy with and have travelled the world over several times.
The reason myself and my friends have been successful in this business is because we knuckled down and worked our backs off, Not paying any attention to the petty bullshit everyone else was doing and every year since we have upped our game and continue to do so.
People usually belittle and bully others because of insecurities within their own setup. Their own shows have been shit and they feel they need to push that onto someone else who has had a rough time promoting, They lack friends outside of that little box with a keyboard that they call the world, and last but not least, They despise seeing others succeeding and not being able to resemble their successes.
I’ll end this with one thing. As i’ve said previously i was bullied from a young age and all the way through primary and secondary school because i was different and it’s had a lasting effect on me and it’s given me the fire and the passion to achieve and really make something of myself!
It’s a constant motivation knowing where i’ve been and where i’m going while the people who made what’s supposed to be the best years of my life a living hell serve me at Asda making minimum wage!
You know who you are and you’ve been warned!
